Rozi Adam is a High Priestess of the Alexandrian tradition and has been a practising Alexandrian witch since 2009. She lives in Shropshire, UK, near the Welsh border, where she was born and raised, and has been working as a freelance writer since 2012.
Rozi grew up in rural surroundings, and from a young age she was drawn to the natural world, playing in woodlands, rivers and open fields where the power of Mother Nature was a fact of life. At the age of 12 she began to take an interest in her pagan heritage, and after reading various books on modern Paganism and Witchcraft, particularly Vivianne Crowley, she began to work rudimentary moon magic and observe the Sabbats.
As a young woman, she encountered other people with similar leanings, and at 18 she stumbled on a local May Day gathering that had been held annually since before her birth. Her first experience of celebrating Beltane with other like-minded people had a huge impact, and after attending for several years and getting involved in the organisation of the event, she decided to seek initiation into the local Alexandrian coven, whom she had met through the festival.
After undergoing initial training and being accepted by the coven elders, she was initiated later that year and embarked on her path of magical development. After many years of hard work, harder lessons and dedicated self-development, she was made a High Priestess in August 2017, receiving initiation into the higher degrees which has enabled her to begin a training group of her own. Her training as an Alexandrian priestess covered ritual magic, Hermetic Qabalah, self-development and practical Craft skills, and with the support and blessing of her initiators she plans to pass these teachings on to her own initiates.
At the same time she was progressing in her magical training, she was also embarking on a period of learning and development in her outer life; for six years she studied part-time for a BA (hons) degree in English Language and Literature – which she passed with first-class honours – while working as a freelance writer, producing content for corporate publications, websites and company blogs. She is an aspiring novelist, and has been working with one of the UK’s top publishers to develop her debut novel. Additionally, she writes and performs songs, and writes poetry, short stories and plays. In her youth she studied voice and acting, gaining qualifications in speech and drama, and in musical theatre. She later went on to sing as part of a heavy metal band, which performed in various parts of the UK and recorded an EP but eventually separated.
Rozi is delighted to be speaking at Hexfest for the first time in 2019, after having visited New Orleans for the first time in 2017. She immediately felt at home in the city and is extremely excited to be able to participate in an event that celebrates its occult leanings, bringing her own unique experiences to share with like-minded people from all over the world.
